Welcome!
No matter what we look like or where we originally called home, we value Hatboro and the American freedoms we enjoy here. The freedom to make a good living, have great childcare and quality education for our kids, affordable healthcare and meds for our families, and clean air and water. Our community values its rich history and, at the same time, we are open to and advocate for new ideas for responsible growth. We welcome new residents, neighbors, and businesses. We believe that Hatboro is the ideal place to raise a family, work, live, and play.
The Hatboro Democratic Committee (HDC) is a political organization dedicated to advancing social, economic, and environmental justice in our community. Rooted in values of inclusivity, equality, and sustainability, the committee works to champion policies that promote equitable education, climate action, and ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for all Hatboro residents. The HDC advocates for protecting voting access and ensuring that all residents, regardless of background, have a voice in local governance. By fostering a collaborative and transparent political environment, the HDC strives to build a more just and compassionate society for the greater Hatboro community.

WE ARE THE CHANGE!
In 2017, for the first time in generations, Democrats won the majority on the Hatboro Borough Council. Then, in 2019, for the first time in our district's history, we secured the majority on the Hatboro-Horsham School Board. The Hatboro Democratic Committee is proud of the hard work that has contributed to these accomplishments. The positive impact of these victories on the community has been impressive. Notable accomplishments throughout the Borough include:

Infrastructure Enhancements: Completed the Hometown Streets and Safe Routes to School project, which included new sidewalks, curbing, and improved crosswalks to enhance pedestrian safety.
Public Safety Improvements: Approved the implementation of body and dash cameras for the police department, promoting transparency and accountability.
Anti-Discrimination Ordinance: Passed a human relations ordinance providing protections against discrimination for all residents, including the LGBTQ community.
Comprehensive Planning: Initiated the development of a new Comprehensive Plan to guide the borough’s growth and development over the next two decades.
Community Center and Parks Development: Transformed the former Woodwinds area into Celano Park, creating new recreational space for the community and acquired and repurposed the former Pennypack Elementary School and its surrounding 11-acre property for community use, addressing local needs and preserving open space.

Since gaining the majority on the school board, accomplishments include:

Improved Academic Performance: The board has focused on reversing a decade-long decline in district scores and rankings, implementing strategies to enhance educational outcomes.
Enhanced Teacher Contracts: Recognizing the importance of teacher satisfaction, the board successfully negotiated improved contracts, fostering a more supportive environment for educators.
Financial Responsibility: The board has maintained fiscal responsibility, ensuring that budgets are managed effectively to support educational initiatives without overburdening taxpayers.
Facility Improvements: Along with maintaining and improving District-owned buildings and property, the construction of the new Crooked Billet Elementary School was completed. Also, students are scheduled to start school in the new, state-of-the-art Keith Valley Middle School building beginning this fall, September 2025.
Community Engagement: The board has increased transparency and communication with the community, providing regular updates and opportunities for public input.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advocacy: The district actively examines its practices and structures to advance and advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring each student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
Special Education Services: A continuum of services is provided to meet the unique educational needs of students with disabilities, aligning with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 04) and state law (Chapter 14). This includes various supports such as Speech and Language Support, Vision Support, Hearing Support, Learning Support, Emotional Support, and Life Skills Support.
Community Resources for English Language Learners: The district offers resources for English as a Second Language (ESL) learners, including partnerships with organizations like Welcoming the Stranger and Vita Education Services, which provide free literacy and ESL classes to support adult immigrants and refugees.
